The Man Behind Coursemania

Me-BabyBeefIf it pleases the court, I would like to present a photograph. Exhibit A. Me. Scott Duffy. I am a technologist with over 20 years experience in designing and developing web applications for mostly large companies. I’ve traveled, written a few books, have a personal twitter that I occasionally update with my witty thoughts.

I’ve been a life-long participant in learning, having taken technical certification tests from IBM, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems. In fact, I got my start in writing from having taken some early Microsoft MCSD beta exams, which got me an offer to write books relating to certification tests too.

I’ve purchased training back when it came on CD-ROMs, and seen the rise of the web from it’s infancy til now. I am very enthusiastic about the future of online learning, and am convinced formal education models are changing right this very moment.

No, I don’t think Harvard and Yale are going away. But I don’t think they can afford to deliver education in the same way they have for the past 100 years either. Videos, and online resource materials for students are here to stay. The days of sitting in a class with a TA to ask questions may be coming to an end.

  1. hi Scott,
I am very new at this website building and my input comes from very limited experience. I will rather come from an audience avatar point of view.

Your home page is a bit busy for me. I love the layout and presentation of the News and Reviews pages. It is organised and well structured -easy on the eye.
The color of your heading is a bit dead and does not inspire a lifelong learner like me.It’s subjective but brown does not do anything for me, I would go with a darker grey/silver which might give it a richer more professional look.
Overall, I think you have done a great job so far!!! I wish you the best with your endeavours.

    • Appreciate the feedback Delana. I’ll be looking to tweak the style of the site in the next little while, and I hope you find it easier to use.
