Building Confidence is a short, 20-minute course on the Lynda.com platform, that focuses on 10 concrete steps you can take to build confidence in your personal and professional life. Since it was a short course, and I had some time before my next courses begin, I thought I would go through it.
The course is direct and Todd Dewett doesn’t waste any time getting into it. Some courses spend 20 minutes just setting up that week’s topics – not this one. But right off the bat, within the first three minutes, he’s talking about the problems people have with self-confidence and how to address them.
The course also includes mini-assignments throughout. So while the video itself is 20-minutes, every few minutes I would have to pause the video and do an assignment the instructor wants us to perform. Now, unlike other platforms, these aren’t submitted or graded, and there is no way for them to know if you are actually doing these steps. If you don’t do them, I suppose you are only cheating yourself and not getting as much out of the videos as you could.
Since the course is short, the review will be short too. If you have 20-minutes and access to the Lynda.com platform, you might consider watching this video. It does contain actionable steps if you want to follow them, but it’s hard to increase your self-confidence just by watching a 20-minute video. You have to do the work outside the course.
