Dan Ariely’s Guide to Irrational Behavior Spring 2014 Class

My all-time favorite course, Dan Ariely’s Beginner’s Guide to Irrational Behavior, is open for enrollment for March 11, 2014.

You can bet that I’ve signed up to take it again. You should too, if the topic interests you and you have the time.

The class is both entertaining and enlightening. It covers a wide-range of irrational human behaviors, which Professor Ariely has talked about in his many popular books.

For example, when a group of people are offered something inferior for free and something superior for 25 cents, almost everyone goes for the inferior but free option. But when the price changes to 1 cent for the poor quality product and 26 cents for the high quality product, the balance shifts and much more people prefer the quality product. It seems free has an irresistible pull for most people.  Even charging a single penny changes everything.

Hope to see you there!
