Travis Hancock has created an effective course on Udemy entitled “Google AdWords: A Step-by-Step Guide for Your First Campaign“. The price, at the time this went live, is $49 although Udemy is always offering discounts if you look for them.
If you have an online business, and purchase ads to generate leads, or are interested in setting up your first campaign for this, this is the course for you. Travis goes through the process step-by-step, from setting up your Adwords account, to creating a campaign. He also covers reporting, and how you measure the success of your advertising.
For example, if one ad costs you $4 per click to run, and has a 25% chance of leading to a sale (conversion rate), and another ad costs you only $2 per click to run, and has a 20% chance of leading to a sale, which one should you invest all your money in?
Well the answer is not straightforward. You need to calculate your profits off each sale, and compare to the cost of running that ad. The percentages alone are not enough to tell you which is more effective.
The course itself could be produced a lot better. I am not a huge fan of shooting video against a white wall (or a white bedsheet, in this case). But if it’s information you are after, that won’t stand in your way. There are some nice parts where Travis has Google Adwords up on the screen and shows you step-by-step of where to click, and how to create an ad. I hope he will consider re-shooting some of the videos to improve the experience for students.
The entire course is easy to get through, and at the end you will hopefully be equipped to run campaigns through Google Adwords and understand the value you are getting for your money.
