This week, a ton of interesting courses start on Coursera (start of the new school year in the Northern Hemisphere, y’all).
I’m interested to take Foundations of Virtual Instruction, by Cindy Carbajal. Some of you know that I actually teach a bunch of classes on Udemy. One of my personal goals this fall is to become a better teacher. I want my courses to do better at helping students with their learning goals.
I don’t think I’m a terrible teacher, since thousands of students have left me great reviews. But I want to become better. Sometimes it’s too easy being focused on delivering information instead of stimulating thought and growth in students.
This course seems to focus on “transitioning from the K-12 environment to online”, which has be a bit worried. But I’m hoping there’s some good information in there. I’ll keep you posted.
