New Course of the Week – The Music of the Beatles

This one caught my eye as soon as I saw it. The University of Rochester is offering a course entitled The Music of the Beatles on Coursera started February 9th. If you appreciate the Beatles, you may want to sign up for this just for the fun of it.

The Music of the Beatles will track the musical development of the band, starting from the earliest days in Liverpool and Hamburg, moving through the excitement of Beatlemania, the rush of psychedelia, and the musical maturity of Abbey Road.

Sign me up. The course is 90 minutes per week of videos, for 6 weeks. Because of copyright issues, the course doesn’t include the Beatles music but if you’re a fan of the band it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience for you to find that yourself. I assume there’s an exam at the end that asks hard questions like “What was the name of the fifth Beatle?”

I’ve signed up, and will do a review after it’s over. Look forward to seeing you on the forums.
